Sustainable and eco friendly weddings are definitely on the increase. For once these are buzz words I wholeheartedly approve of!
When it comes to being mindful of our impact on the environment, every detail of a wedding day can in theory be scrutinised and thoughtfully considered (e.g. seasonal floral arrangements, locally sourced produce or even going 50% veggie on the menu, limiting your use of stationery, natural confetti etc).

That said, maybe the one thing that's often overlooked is the wedding gift list. Now, I don't want to appear preachy. Every couple's circumstances will differ. It's totally OK and reasonable to compile a more conventional wedding gift list for those guests wishing to purchase one. Times are hard and if you're at the home building stage, then kitchen items, soft furnishings, home decor or voucher gifts can come in particularly handy.
But for many couples, they really don't want another blender or chopping board and are increasingly keen to celebrate their love for each other by making thoughtful choices that are kinder to the environment.
So, whether you're a couple of nearly weds serious about having a sustainable wedding or giving something back to mother nature, or sustainable wedding guests struggling for ideas, here are my top 10 sustainable/eco friendly gift suggestions.
Charitable donations
Simply choose a charity close to your heart or opt for one that works in harmony with the environment - Greenpeace, Rewilding Britain and The Woodland Trust for example.
Adopt an animal. The WWF offer various options. This is a great choice for animal lovers who want to do their bit.
Encourage guests to plant a tree by signing up to the National Trust's Plant a Tree campaign.

If you are cool campers - the most sustainable way to holiday - then how about adding a Ghillie Kettle (no gas or artificial fuel required) or a hammock from which to appreciate the natural world to your list?
Recycled glass vases or ornaments. There's a huge choice on Etsy.
How about a first edition or decorative vintage book by a favourite author? Check out Country House Library (I'm not being paid to say this, but they have a lovely selection).
Vintage candlesticks. Any given Antiques Centre will have a selection of vintage candle sticks. You could also add Bees' Wax candles to the list. Who doesn't like dining by candle light?
Glass storage jars and ceramic pans. Just better (for you and the environment).
Garden gifts - a bug hotel or patio pond kit are great ideas for giving wildlife a helping hand.
A pre loved or vintage framed picture or piece of decorative glass. Mid century is still sought after and has timeless cool.
So there you have it. Why not show some eco love!
Sustainably yours. x
